Pediatric cancer patients and their families spend a lot of their time at clinics and hospitals waiting either for doctor visits, infusions, blood draws, procedures, etc. The focus of our art programs are to provide distraction therapy so that time moves a little faster for these amazing warriors. As such, we provide project kits which patients can do wherever they are as all materials and instructions are included. We have partnered with Nailed It DIY who provides these kits on a monthly basis so we can distribute to Child Life Specialists at Nicklaus, Holtz, Joe DiMaggio, Palm Beach, The Salah Foundation Children's Hospitals as well as to the Miami Cancer Institute (MCI) at Baptist Health and UM/alex's place.

In-person visits with Nailed It DIY and Kid Create Studio Miami are are currently taking place at Nicklaus Children's Hospital and Hem/Onc clinic, at the Miami Cancer Institute (MCI) at Baptist Health, UM/alex's place and Holtz Children's Hospital.
We believe the time these children spend with each artist and/or project eases their suffering if even for a little while. For forty-five minutes to an hour, they can almost forget where they are and why they are there.
Since the summer of 2021, we have offered week long virtual art camps in June to launch summer vacation. Camp is FREE to all childhood cancer patients and their siblings between the ages 6 - 12 years. Activities include arts & crafts, drawing, origami, cooking, science experiments, and fun games. Campers can register for one day, a couple days or all 5 days. These virtual camps are held via Zoom and most of the art supplies required for the activities are sent to each patient via USPS.
This program is lead by Ane Guerrero, who presented us with the concept while in high school. She is currently in college at Duke University and continues to develop the calendar of activities for all camps, coordinate counselors when necessary, and personally host every camp.

This past year Miss Guerrero expanded the program so we now offer three one-day camps: Holidays, Spring and in September during childhood cancer awareness month. For more information and to register, please email us at programs@sofiashope.org.
